Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS A SPENDING PLANNER?
Spending Planners compliment the existing financial services industries and help their clients build a solid financial foundation for other service providers to build on.
People who are having difficulty making positive progress with their money goals, who feel like they are going round in circles and are stuck on a financial treadmill, will quickly find direction and a sense of relief once they are given the correct tools, training, guidance and mentoring.
Spending Planners are trained to help everyday people get off that treadmill, leave the money stress behind and start experiencing a much more gratifying lifestyle that is NOT dominated by financial pressures.
Paying down debt and accumulating a savings buffer can happen much faster than you ever thought possible with the help of a Spending Planner.
During an introductory session, we will quickly review your current financial situation, answer your questions and find the best approach for you to achieve financial independence. We will explain the process of working with a Spending Planner and schedule a time to establish your Spending Plan.
IS THIS ANOTHER BUDGET?
No. You don’t have to add up expenses. You don’t need to balance the books. You don’t need to be good at maths.
DO YOU TAKE MY MONEY & PAY MY BILLS?
No. You get to drive your own bus. It’s the only way for long term success! Your Spending Planner is there for you along the way supporting and guiding you on your journey to the life that you want.
CAN YOU GIVE ME INVESTING & ACCOUNTING ADVICE?
No. Spending Planners are not financial advisors. Spending Planners are well networked & can put you in touch with your local Financial Advisor, Accountant, or Mortgage Broker.
CAN A SPENDING PLANNER HELP ME FILE FOR BANKRUPTCY?
No. Spending Planners are not financial counsellors. A Spending Planner can show you your financial future so you are clear on your starting point. They can connect you with a financial counsellor to help you.
If you need help to file for bankruptcy, you can contact the National Debt Helpline.
WHAT WILL A SPENDING PLANNER HELP ME WITH?
A Spending Planner will help you work out a weekly/monthly budget. He can also give you practical guidance and tools to reach your goals, such as:
- Reduce debt and pay off credit cards
- Buy a new car
- Plan a holiday (whether it’s a cruise or 6 months travelling around Europe)
- Afford to send your children to private school
- Qualify for a mortgage
- Buy a bigger house or investment property
- Be financially ready for extending the family
WHAT TO EXPECT ON OUR FIRST CONSULTATION?
First, I will ask you to provide me with basic information on your current expenses and income. We will then develop a spending plan for you.
We will discuss the proposed plan and whether you think that it is practical or not. We will make the requested changes, according to your observations to make sure the plan is achievable and suited to your specific needs.
AM I READY TO HIRE A SPENDING PLANNER?
Yes! As the saying goes “Time is money” and the best time to take control of your finances is now.
A Spending Planner will clarify for you all the aspects of your budget that are holding you back. Plus, Andrew is compassionate and non-judgmental. You definitely do not need to wait until you have your things together before you book a session.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Depending on your specific situation, Andrew will tell you what you need to bring during your discovery call (if you choose to have one before your Spending Plan Session).
For most people, it is helpful to bring:
- your last 3 payslips,
- 3 to 12 months of bank statements,
- your last utility bills (electricity, water, internet, mobile phone plans, etc),
- insurance bills (health insurance, car insurance, house & contents insurance, etc),
- a list of subscriptions or repayment plans you are committed to.
